Introduction

Stock Manager is a powerful yet easy to use stock portfolio manager. The program helps you keep track of your current, sold stocks and stocks that should only be watched (those that you do not own). Stock Manager provides many statistics on a stock by stock basis and for an entire portfolio.

Current stock prices can be downloaded directly from your Smartphone or via the included ActiveSync provider. After an Internet update the program will show you by how much your total portfolio value has increased or decreased and visual indicators will indicate if individual stocks have gone up or down.

Before you get started you should:

  • Set your preferences via Portfolios > Preferences (see section 10).

  • Set your currencies via Portfolios > Currencies (see section 5).

Main Screen

The main screen shows you all your stocks in the currently selected portfolio.

The 4th column shows either: if the stock has gone up or down since the last Internet update or if the stock has gone up or down during the current trading day. What exactly is displayed depends on a configurable setting in the program preferences.

Watched stocks are displayed with a little dot beside their current price, like this: . A stock that is watched is a stock that you do not own but that you still want to have around to keep track of how it is doing. Watched stocks do not influence the portfolio totals at the bottom of the screen.

Active/Sold: If the icon is an open folder then you are currently viewing active and watched stocks. If the folder icon is closed then sold stocks are displayed. When a stock is sold it is moved to the closed section and is not updated anymore during an Internet update.

Portfolios: Stock Manager can track up to 32 portfolios for you. Change portfolios or create new portfolios via Portfolios > Change View.

Portfolio Stats: The statistics at the bottom of the screen are for the current portfolio. To see the statistics for all your securities select "All" from the portfolio list.

Currency: Displays the currency in which all values are displayed. The currency can be toggled between the portfolio currency and the global currency.

Shortcuts: Press the following keys for quick actions:

  • Enter (middle joystick key): Show market window for current stock.

  • 1 : Show info window.

  • 2 : Show market window.

  • 3 : Show stock chart window.

  • 4 : Show calculator window.

  • 5 : Show alert window.

  • 6 : Show note window.

  • 7 : Show sold window (only for sold stocks).

  • * : Scroll stock list down.

  • # : Scroll stock list up.

  • 000 : Exit Stock Manager (useful if upgrading the program).

Display Options

You can change what is displayed on the main screen by selecting Portfolios > Change View.

Portfolio: The currently displayed portfolio. Create, edit and delete portfolios using the Portfolios menu at the bottom of the screen. Stock Manager has a limit of 32 different portfolios.

Column 3: What to display on column 3 of the main screen. This can be:

  • Profit: Current profit.

  • Profit %: Current profit as a percentage.

  • Profit PA: Profit per annum.

  • Cost: Cost of the stock.

  • C. Value: Current value of the stock.

  • Fee %: Fee to buy the stock as a percentage of the cost.

  • B. Price: Buy price of the stock

  • Change: How much the stock has changed in the current trading day (this value is displayed as received from the Internet and is not calculated).

  • Change %: The change percentage for the current trading day.

  • DChange: The amount change for the current trading day. This value is calculated by multiplying the stock change value by the number of shares owned in a particular stock.

Show Total: What portfolio statistic to display on the bottom right corner of the main screen.

Show Stocks: Shows either active and watched stocks or sold stocks.

Show in Currency: The currency to use to display values in the 3rd column and the chosen portfolio statistic. Note that prices displayed on the second column are always shown as downloaded from the Internet and are never currency converted. Stock Manager call either display values in the portfolio currency or in the global currency. When displaying "All" portfolios, values are always displayed in the global currency. More information about currencies in section 5.

Sort by / Sort type: How to sort the stocks.

Watched stocks at bottom: If this is selected, all watched stocks will be displayed after all active stocks.

Column 2:

  • Price: The current price of the stock, either updated manually or from the Internet. Updating a stock manually is useful for stocks from stock exchanges not yet supported by Stock Manager. To do so, select Stocks > Manual Update. Stock Manager will update the price for all stocks that have the same symbol. Therefore even if a stock is always updated manually, it should still have a unique symbol. You can use dummy symbols such as XX01, XX02, etc.

  • Div.: Dividend, shows any dividend that the stock might have given. Dividends are used to calculate the profit.

  • Num: Number of shares bought.

  • Buy Date: When the shares were bought.

  • Sell Date: When the shares were sold.

Column 1:

  • Name: Displays the name given to the stock. This is usually the name of the company in question.

  • Symbol: Displays the symbol of the stock.
